Apple-Raisin Oatmeal Bars

Makes 18 chewy, all-natural energy snacks perfect for the hiking trail or after a long run.

 2 Apples, chopped in small pieces
 ½ cup Carrots, shreddedThis is optional
 1.50 cups Oats, old fashioned raw
 1 cup All purpose flour
 ¼ cup Whole wheat flour(can use all purpose flour)
  cup Brown sugar
 ¾ cup Butter (softened)
 ½ cup Raisins (or cranberries)
 ¼ tsp Cinnamon
  tsp Salt (leave out if using salted butter)
 ¼ cup Cold water

Preheat oven to 400°F.

Mix together oats, flour, and brown sugar.

Cut in butter until mix is crumbly. Add apple, raisins, carrots, cinnamon, and salt, mixing well. If the mixture is very dry, drizzle in a little cold water (but not too much)

Pat it into a greased 9×9 pan, bake for 40 minutes,

Cool in pan before cutting.
