If you have a pineapple that you can’t get to right away, check out this counter-top storage tip!

Store pineapple upside down on counter.
Yup, leaves down, picked side up.
Pineapples typically get picked “ripe” so during storing you’re trying to prevent it from browning or rotting to quickly.
There’s a couple schools of thought as to why storing it upside down is beneficial;
A pineapple is picked from the base, which would be the most ripe part. In fact if you smell the base that’ll tells you how sweet and ripe the fruit is. Typically the fruit will be more green toward the top, or the leaves.
So by storing the fruit upside down it keeps the bottom from browning quicker. Also, it will help distribute the sugar thru the fruit. By using gravity.
Interestingly, you can keep a whole pineapple for about 6 months in a cold fridge. Hopefully that’s not the case for any of us, cause we can’t wait to eat the fresh pineapple!
Eat those fresh pieces, or grill or make a great smoothie. Enjoy!
