Start by preparing the vanilla syrup. This recipe makes 2 Macchiato Drinks.

INGREDIENTS
Vanilla Syrup (makes about 12 oz.)
1 cup Water
½ cup Brown sugar
½ cup White sugar
1 tbsp Vanilla extract
2 tbsp Dark Rum (optional)
Caramel Macchiato (makes 2 servings)
8 oz Hot Dark Roast Coffee
12 oz Milk (whole or 2%)
2 tbsp Vanilla syrup
Caramel sauce
Whipped cream (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Vanilla Syrup
1Put water, sugars, vanilla extract, and the optional dark rum in a small Sauce pan on medium-low heat.
Stir until sugar is dissolved, then remove from heat.
Let cool, until ready to store.

Caramel Macchiato
2First put 1 Tablespoon of Vanilla Syrup in a cup.
Pour in 4oz of strong coffee.
Top with 6oz of steamed milk.
*warm up the milk gently on stove top on low or microwave - 30 sec at a time until warm. Be careful not to heat for too long so the milk won't scorch.
Top with Caramel sauce (from the commissary) drizzled over the top of the milk.
**measurements can be adjusted to your personal sweetness, dairy, and caffeine preference.**
3Milk froth tips:
- Whisk manually.
- Froth using a handheld battery operated froth wand.
- Froth using an empty French press: pour in milk and plunge, quickly up and down for approximately 10 seconds.
