INGREDIENTS
DIRECTIONS
You can do this method on a grill, but stovetop works great too (using the vent fan, of course).
Prepare your burger meat to your liking. Roll meat into a ball, about a cup of meat per burger. Allow meat to sit on counter, to get rid of the refrigerator chill.
You’ll need a cast iron skillet, and a pie pan or equal plate/pan. Plus an additional “weight” like a Dutch oven pot or another cast iron skillet.
Picture here is the “assemble stack” used to “smash the burger.

Heat the large cast iron skillet over high heat.
When ready, take one burger-ball and place in the center of skillet. Listen to that sizzle.
Stack the weights on top of burger, smashing and searing it. Cook for 1 minute.
Remove weights and flip burger and place weights back on burger. Cook for 1 minute.

Enjoy the perfectly smashed burger!!!
Toppings could include cheddar+bacon, blue cheese+mushrooms, or cheddar+tomato+lettuce+onion. Have you tried topping your burger with a fried egg??
