Avocado DressingBy Fish FoodThis creamy dressing can be used in a variety of ways, stirred over corn and bean salad, grain bowls, grilled veggies, and salad. Makes about 2 cups of dressing.
Mashed Potatoes + Cabbage & ShallotsBy Fish FoodThis recipe, which is simply creamy mashed potatoes and cabbage, is a Irish dish called colcannon. Colcannon comes from the Gaelic word that means “white-headed cabbage.” The ingredients are so simple but hearty, its a dish created from the humble people in the 17th century with easily accessible ingredients. Cabbage is a perfect crunchy veggie next to the creamed potatoes, but kale can be substituted. Leeks can also swap out the shallots. Serve in place of mashed potatoes, with meatloaf, salmon, roast chicken or a robust gravy stew. Serves 4-6
Green Beans + Tofu & Pepper SauceBy Fish FoodThe crisp of the green beans, savory shallots and umami sauce with tofu, is a combo that will win over even the most hesitant tofu eater. Serve along with fresh rice and a green salad dressed with a tangy mustard vinaigrette, or pickled veggies. Serving for 4. Note: To make the tofu pieces nice and crisp, extracting the liquid is key. Drain, wrap in a clean dish towel and set a heavy pan or dish on top of tofu, for at least 20 minutes, if not more.
Zesty Lime Salad DressingBy Fish FoodThis salad dressing recipe shared by "thepantrymeals" pairs well with the fresh strawberries in the pantry. Chicken is optional.
Roasted Butternut Squash OrzoBy Fish FoodWHAT IS ORZO? Orzo is tiny pasta despite its appearance. It looks like rice, doesn’t it? Orzo means “barley” in Italian but there is no actual barley in it, only shape resemblance. It’s made the same way any pasta is made.
Chickpea Salad (Balilah)By Fish FoodA zesty lemon-herby mixture simply dresses freshly cooked chickpeas in this recipe. Balilah is a Palestinian street food, a satisfying snack. Serve as a stand alone snack, or alongside your favorite apps. Or even with a salad. They are great warm or at room temperature. They go well with naan, pita or potato flatbread (check out the recipe on our site). By soaking the chickpeas overnight, and then cooking you can control the peas from becoming to mushy. Just factor the overnight soak into the time-factor.
